9 - 11 - The Angora Rabbit - care & grooming for a successful enterprise - Kathleen Barger-Harbert of Herbal Maid Fiber Farm – Angora Rabbit Tent – Learn from an expert with 30 years experience! We will discuss how to care for, breed and groom this specialized rabbit. Includes hands-on practice harvesting their valuable fiber plus discussion on marketing both fiber and rabbits.

9 – 11 – NATURAL DYE “MAKINGS ” – Jerry Wilson – One Stop Learning Tent – Six locally available natural dyes will be identified and their use discussed. Students will receive syllabus and small samples of the colors available from these dyes. Common “exotic” dyes will also be discussed. These exotic dyes are not available in our area but are grown usually in warmer latitudes.

9 - 11 - ADVENTURES IN ART YARN – Brenda Schmidt – Angora Rabbit Tent -
Learn several "easier than you think" Art Yarn techniques including Beehives, Wraps, Cocoons, and different methods of incorporating beads and other fun objects into your yarn. These can be done on a regular spinning wheel or hand spindle. You must be able to spin and willing to take a break from that perfect yarn we are always trying to achieve and adventure into the creative world of art yarn. Bring your wheel or hand spindle, several bobbins, and a niddy noddy if you have one. 9 - 12 - WEAVE IT BOX – Lois Wissmann - One Stop Learning Tent -
About the late 1930’s early 1940’s a mini loom came on the market known as the Weave-It Box. Other names it went by were Mini Loom, Jiffy Loom and Weavett. These mini looms were portable and easy to make a 4 inch square. The squares were then sewn together to make a throw, bag, or clothing. The other advantage of these looms was it used up left over yarns. This is a fun and easy project and a great beginning class for children. The standard and another design weaving will be taught.

9 – 12 – FELT A SCARF - No Experience Necessary – Judy Crouch – Christian Church Basement – Learn Nuno felting and make yourself a beautiful scarf in the process. Using merino wool or a merino/silk blend you will felt on silk fabric to create a one of a kind scarf that you will be proud to wear or give as a gift. BRING A LARGE THICK BATH TOWEL, SCISSORS AND A SPRAY BOTTLE. The silk base and all fibers will be provided.

9 – 12 – BUILD BEAUTIFUL BOUCLE YARNS - Lorry McDonald – One Stop Learning Tent – Creating boucle is easy once you understand how it is structured. Students will learn to spin fancy boucle yarns using several types of fibers for the loops, core and binding. Beautiful bouncy Boucle is within your reach. Step by step instructions will be given. Bring your spinning wheel, at lest 4 bobbins, a lazy kate, knitty knotty or yarn skeiner, ball winder, small pair of scissors and pen or pencil for notes. All materials provided.

Let’s put those beautiful yarns to good use! We will learn how to crochet those beautiful useful garments and household items. No previous knowledge needed. Crochet hook, yarn and patterns will be provided.

10 – 12 – DYE YOUR BUNS – Liz Mitchko – Christian Church Basement –
Students will learn a fun and easy way to dye raw fiber, roving and skeins of yarn. We will be using items found in most kitchens today. Students will get to dye and take home their colorful creations. We will be working with natural fibers and acid dyes. Written instructions and all materials are provided. Students should wear clothing appropriate for dyeing or bring an apron to protect their clothing. Students also need to bring a pair of dishwashing gloves and a one gallon zip lock bag. Skill Level: Beginner

11 – 1 - EXPLORING SOLAR DYEING WITH YARN or FIBER – Brenda Schmidt – Angora Rabbit Tent - A hands on class exploring economical and energy efficient methods of solar dyeing with various fibers or yarns and different types of dyes including fiber reactive, natural plant dyes and more. A fun class for anyone interested in easy dyeing techniques for yarn or fiber--your choice of either or both!
In addition learn dye recipes, multi-color tips and tricks and go home with at least 2 dye lots of fiber or yarn. This is a super fun class and you will be amazed at your results. If you are worried about getting messy bring an apron or a big trash bag to cover yourself. 1 – 3 – BASIC NATURAL DYEING – Jerry Wilson – One Stop Learning Tent – Students will receive one 4 oz skein of alum premordanted yarn and may bring additional yarn or roving of their own to the class to be dyed. Scouring, mordanting and the actual dyeing process will be discussed. A list of common dye plants and the colors for each will be provided.

1 - 3 - ART YARN SAFARI - GO WILD – Brenda Schmidt – Angora Rabbit Tent - Continue your Art Yarn Adventures and go on SAFARI while learning various methods of Tail-Spinning, Hip Hardware, Art Yarn Sculpture and more. This is a stand alone class so you don't have to have Adventures in Art Yarn under you belt, but you can if you want to. This is one hip and cool class. You just have to know how to spin - you definitely don't have to be perfect! Bring your wheel, several bobbins, a small dog brush or flick card and a niddy noddy if you have one . Bring your wheel or spindle, if you have neither, a CD drop spindle is available for only $5. You will learn how to spin and ply. Different fibers will be discussed.

1 – 4 - CREATE COLORFUL CABLE YARNS – Lorry McDonald – One Stop Learning Tent - Students will learn to create cabled yarns using 4 and more singles. Due to the higher degree of twist energy binding cabled yarns together, they are very strong, long wearing and stable. By combining colors and textures, you can create exciting, beautiful yarns for socks and other items that get hard use. Step by step instruction will be given. Bring your wheel, at lest 4 bobbins, a lazy kate, knitty knotty or yarn skeiner, ball winder, small pair of scissors and pen or pencil for notes. All materials provided.

1 – 4 – CROCHET A ROVING RUG – Elyse Hargis – Angora Rabbit Tent - Beautiful, useful rugs can be created by rovings and a crochet hook. Join us for creating a beautiful wool rug with a crochet hook and roving. Most of us have left over rovings sitting around, these rovings can be used to create one of a find rugs. Beginning crochet skills needed. Roving, crochet hook and instruction sheets provided.

1 – 4 – RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING - Darlene Megli – Christian Church basement – If you have always wanted to try your hand at weaving, but have no idea where to start? Here is the place. You will learn easy, quick warping using a peg, and then weave. Basic weave on the rigid heddle is plain weave, but it will not look ‘plain’ when you are done. Much can be done with color, texture, and how you put them together. Come join the fun. No experience necessary.

1 – 4 - LOTIONS AND POTIONS – DeAnna Neal – Christian Church basement – This is a “make it and take it” class that will be a money saving investment you will never regret! We will begin with the basics; how and why to use French Mill soap, basic lotion bars, simple shampoos and hair rinse, scrubs and more. You will learn how to customize recipes to make them your own, and to suit the needs of you and your family. You will learn to understand the chemistry of solids, brittle solids and liquids. A new addition this year will be recipes for your everyday household cleaning products. This will be a jampacked three hours. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a soap making class. All soaps in this class will be French milled from previously made goat milk soaps. Please bring a paring knife, glass measuring cup (any size) and several sandwich sized zip lock baggies. A cheese grater may also come in handy.

2 – 4 – INTRODUCTION TO FINGERWEAVING – Susan Wilson – One Stop Learning Tent – Fingerweaving is a loomless weaving technique used by the Eastern Woodland Indians of North America. Without having to invest in special equipment, you will learn to weave scarves for yourself and friends. (Christmas is just around the corner, you know!) All materials, including wool yarn dyed with natural dyes and an instructional booklet are covered in the cost of the class. Beginners welcome

3 - 5 - YOU CAN KNIT SOCKS! – Brenda Schmidt – Angora Rabbit Tent
Learn to knit socks fast and easy on a smaller scale by making a FAST pair of miniature socks. Its lots easier than you think so don't be intimidated - You can knit socks! You will learn to knit the cuff, reinforce the heel, turn the heel, pick up the gusset and decrease for toes. Most students will complete at least one sock during class. Intermediate beginners and up. Bring your knitting accessories and a set of 4 or 5 Size #8 wooden or bamboo (preferred) or plastic double pointed needles - no metal please!! These will be available for separate purchase if needed, but please email ahead if you need them so we will have enough. 9 – 10 - MASTERING MAWATA SILK HANKIES – Brenda Schmidt –Angora Rabbit Tent - What do you do with those cool hankies? - Its the latest CRAZE - yes you can knit straight from the hankies - you don't have to spin them first but you can if you want to. Contrary to popular belief there are many ways to handle these addicting artworks and you will learn some of the different techniques to drafting out the hankies for multiple effects while knitting or spinning - you choose how you want to use them – there are many many ways. Both knitters and spinners can benefit from the preparation instruction and tips and tricks. We will also explore other techniques for incorporating these awesome pieces of art into all kinds of felting and mixed media crafts. Bring your favorite size knitting needles - it doesn't really matter what size but I would recommend no larger than 10-1/2 OR if you are spinning rather than knitting just bring your wheel, and a couple of bobbins or your hand spindle. 9 – 1 – FIBER BLENDING – Judy Crouch – One Stop Learning Tent –
Love silk, wool, alpaca, bamboo or any other fiber? Let’s mix them all up!! Stretch the luxury fibers with wool. Give a little memory to silk, bamboo, mohair, etc. Change the feel, look, and drape of a fiber. You will learn how to blend with a drum carder, hand cards and combs. They will each give you a different effect, depending on the look you want. Drum carder and combs will be available for use in class. All fibers will be provided. You will need to bring a set of hand cards.

9 – 1 – DYEING FIBERS – Elyse Hargis – One Stop Learning Tent –
Creating your own roving colors can be very exciting, you never know what it’s going to look like until you see the finished product! Come join us as we create our one of a kind roving. Preparations for the roving, mordants and dyes will be discussed. We will dye both yarns and rovings for you to return home and create your own year. We will also dye a larger vat of wool and discuss what it takes to dye larger volumes. Please wear older clothes and shoes or bring old clothes to cover your better clothes. Gloves, roving and yarn provided.

9 – 12 – BEGINNING KUMIHIMO BRADING - Tammy Taylor – One Stop Learning Tent - Learn the basics of Kumihimo using a portable foam disk. Kumihimo (“gathering (kumi) of threads (himo)” is the ancient art of Japanese braiding. Beautiful, durable braids were used for ties, belts, and closures on Samurai armor as well as many other household needs. Traditionally made on a wooden stool called a “marudai” pairs of threads are moved in sequence to create braids of many colors. Students will leave with a braided sampler. No experience needed.

9 – 12 – SIMPLE SILK SPINNING – Nancy Barnett – Angora Rabbit Tent –
You will learn to spin silk caps/handkerchiefs, sari silk, and add dyed silk noil to other fibers. All these silks are inexpensive and create a very impressive yarn when spun. Bring your wheel, cards, extra bobbins, knitty knotty or yarn winder, and a bobbin of already spun fiber to combine with the shredded sari silk. You must know how to spin.

9 – 12 – WEAVING OUTSIDE THE BOX – Jeanette Larson – One Stop Learning Tent – Learn beginning triangle loom weaving on a one-foot loom. In this class you will learn the continuous loop method that allows you to weave without warping. We will cover color changes, simple patterns and textures. You will leave the class with a small dishcloth you have woven and the skills to continue in this addictive weaving technique. All yarns for the class are included in the fee. 10 – 12 - MAKING THE MOST OF HANDPAINTED ROVING – Brenda Schmidt – Angora Rabbit Tent - Learn several techniques such as Navajo 3-ply, Cabling, Core Spinning, Step Down, Relaxed Single and more to create completely different yarns and looks from the same hand painted (multi-colored and hand-dyed) roving or top. We will work hands on with as many methods as time allows and a handout will be provided with more ideas to try on your own. You must be able to spin on a wheel or spindle if you want to participate hands on and I welcome new spinners so please join in if you can spin at all and bring your wheel or hand spindle. If you are unable to bring a wheel, or if you are otherwise unable to participate hands-on, you are welcome in the class as an observer as well. The class fee is the same either way and you can take your roving home with you. 12 - 2 - NO RULES FREE FORM KNITTING - MAKE A HANDBAG – Brenda Schmidt –Angora Rabbit Tent - Make a unique and very cool purse/handbag using a very different method of no rules free form knitting that I developed a few years ago. This is an original, FUN and very addicting technique that can be used in to make anything your heart desires. You will learn to look at knitting in a completely different way. You must know how to knit, but new knitters are welcome. Bring your knitting accessories and a PAIR OF STRAIGHT #6 knitting needles, 12-14" long. 12 - 4 – SPINNING WOOLEN AND WORSTED – Darlene Megli – One Stop Learning Tent – This is a class for intermediate spinners. If you can spin a basic yarn, you are now ready to learn how to take more control of what you spin. Learn to prepare the fiber and spin the yarn that you want for your project. In this class you will learn the difference between worsted and woolen, how the fibers are prepared, how they are spun and the best type of fleece to use for each one. You will also learn the most appropriate end use of the yarn. Bring your wheel, in good working order, oil, hand cards, flick carder, lap cloth. You will learn how to Andean ply or to ply from a center pull ball, so you will need only one bobbin. You will be provided all fibers for spinning and cards to put your finished samples on.

1 – 4 – THINK OUT OF THE BOX – Elyse Hargis - Angora Rabbit Tent - Have you ever heard of other breeds of sheep and wondered what these wools are like? What are these wools best used for? Come join us for this class. Let’s think “out of the box” that we sometimes get ourselves into. Sometimes we are afraid to spend the money or are afraid to venture out into an “unknown” breed (to us). We will explore other lesser know breeds, we will discuss the pros and cons of these breeds and the best uses for them spending time spinning and felting with them to see if we might develop a “new” fleece we love to spin or felt! We will look into such breeds as Wensleydale, Cotswold, Karakul, CVM and others. If you have a type of wool that you would like to try please contact me at and I will try to procure it if there’s enough time before the class. This is a Beginner and Intermediate spinning class.

1 – 4 – RAGS TO RUGS WITH A TWINING FRAME – Deanna Neal – Angora Rabbit Tent – Learn to use a twining board (a simple loom) to create placemats and rugs. Twining is a weaving technique, which totally encloses the warp string/thread. It’s a great way to use up old or ugly fabric. This is a beginner class and all beginning weavers are welcome. We will be working with a placemat size loom and old sheets, pillowcases, T-shirts, etc. Material fee includes fabric needed to make your first placement and a twining board, which will be yours to keep. Written instructions will be provided for continued success with your loom at home. Please bring scissors and 6 large rubber bands.
